New York County Lawyers’ Association

On June 18th 2012, Dunnington litigation partner Thomas V. Marino was presented with the David Y. Hinshaw Award by the Federal Courts Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association. Mr. Marino was honored for his conspicuous contributions to the committee, having been an active committee member for 23 years, and his many outstanding contributions to the New York County Lawyers’ Association. Among other things, Mr. Marino regularly volunteered to work on subcommittees that author committee reports, and he has served as Chair of many such subcommittees. One subcommittee chaired by Mr. Marino authored the report entitled “Pro Hac Vice Admissions to Federal Court” that was published at 169 F.R.D. 390 (1996) and won NYCLA’s first annual Klaus Eppler Award for the best NYCLA Report, which is the only time the committee has been so honored. In addition, Mr. Marino has often been a panelist on the committee’s Spring Lecture Series CLE program entitled “Winning Cases in Federal Court,” and he was Chair of the committee’s luncheon honoring the Federal Courts in New York City in 2004 when Jack Weinstein received the Edward Weinfeld Award. As Chair, Mr. Marino was responsible for recruiting new committee members, increasing attendance at monthly committee meetings, and developing a bench of new leaders capable of leading this committee for years to come. Mr. Marino also introduced many innovations, including conceiving of the David Y. Hinshaw Award, publishing speeches given at the Weinfeld Luncheon, publicizing the committee by placing in the New York County Lawyer photographs of judges who attended committee meetings, and developing new CLE programs sponsored by the committee. Mr. Marino also served as a member of the NYCLA Board of Directors from May 2005 through May 2009 where he ably assisted the committee in many aspects of its work.
